Senior Cybersecurity Consultant

Our client has an immediate full-time permanent opportunity available for a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant in Saskatoon, SK

Our client is an IT consulting firm that is growing, and they are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Governance, Risk & Compliance Consultant with a minimum of 5 years experience to join their team. We are looking for an individual who is:

  • Knowledgeable of what a cyber program is, as well as the various frameworks such as NIST, ISO, COBIT, etc.

  • Experienced in cyber program development, including:

  • Control mapping to frameworks

  • Development of policy, standards and procedures

  • Identifying and implementing metrics

  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of business processes and risk management.

  • Experienced performing threat and risk assessments and delivering reports to the executive level

  • Strong in building client relationships and interacting with technology staff and senior management

  • A strong communicator and can deliver reports that bring value to our clients

  • An exceptional problem solver

What you will do:

Successful candidates will work as part of our national team to deliver cyber security services and engagements that exceed our clients’ expectations through activities such as:

  • Assessing IT security posture and identify gaps and risks

  • Assisting with a range of compliance and risk activities; including security posture and compliance assessments, cloud security assessments, policy assessment, policy development, security gap assessments, threat and risk assessments and more

  • Analyzing client requirements and provide custom advice related to industry standards and best practices


Creating and recommending remediation for components of assessments such as security policies, procedures and others

  • Providing guidance and recommendations for technical security controls

  • Creating detailed, professional documentation to be delivered to customers both in written and verbal formats

  • Align organizational cyber security strategy and infrastructure with overall business and technology strategy

  • Participate in the design for enterprise-class security systems in use to better detect, protect and monitor cyber threats for all key systems in use in the company

  • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures solutions and recommend changes or enhancements

  • Define processes that will facilitate the support of the security systems in use

  • Interpret current or future regulation to support the compliance activity

  • Review contracts and negotiations with 3rd parties to ensure privacy and security compliance

  • Serve as the point of contact to develop and drive any activities related to privacy and information security

  • Regularly communicate vital information, security needs and priorities to upper management

  • Consult on Regulatory compliance requirements, reporting and questions

  • Influence behavior to reduce risk and foster a strong technology risk management culture at our clients

What you bring to the role

The ideal candidate will possess a mixture of education, experience, skills and behaviors which could include the following:

  • 5 or more years of relevant information security experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in an appropriate field from an accredited college/university

  • Industry-recognized certifications would be an asset. (i.e. OCSP, GICSP, CISSP, CISM, and CISA).

  • Good understanding of various security domains and cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO)

  • Knowledge of technical infrastructure, networks, databases and systems in relation to IT Security and IT Risk.

  • Capabilities in Cyber Security Governance and Strategy, and cyber program development

  • Experience in defining metrics and KPIs, implementing cybersecurity/risk dashboards

  • An interest in further developing cyber security
