Grain Plant Supervisor
Our client has an immediate full-time permanent opportunity available for a Grain Plant Supervisor in Saskatoon, SK
Position Summary:
The Plant Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the plant, during their shift, while maintaining efficient production in desired quality and quantity. The position leads the shift teams as well as the supporting departments (admin, maintenance, deliver) in achieving key performance indicators for safety, environment, quality, customer service and cost control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Maintenance:
Conduct safety pre-shift safety meetings
Understand, direct, prioritize and oversee daily operations
Coordinate with the team to optimize operating results
Provide feedback to Plant Manager on opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, or quality of product
Monitor work volume and personnel capacity
Arrange and adjust shifts accordingly
Keep plant clean and organize
Communicate challenges, concerns, learnings with next shift.
Regulation & Quality Control:
Ensure production is in accordance with regulatory requirements
Ensure employees operate within standards that meet safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service and cost controls.
Always follow good manufacturing processes, meeting industry regulations and equipment protocols
Practice quality control protocol upon acquiring, production and delivery
Report issues and opportunities for improving quality control.
Safety:
Communicate, document and control hazards, as instructed
Report all incidents to Plant Manager
Document all incidents
Ensure employees only conduct tasks they have been trained to do
Supervise staff; ensure all employees show competency before working independently
Team Work & HR:
Motivate staff, assess performance, identify barriers that impede them from completing job duties, and recommend solutions
Develop team work to ensure effective functioning of the plant and connectivity between shifts
Train and/or share knowledge with the Agrocorp Canada teams
Foster a team culture
Identify opportunities for process improvement;
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with food processing plant operations an asset
Grain commodity experience and understanding
Multi-tasker who is a solution-focused and a problem solver
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong time management skills
Interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to motivate employees
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential materials
