Company is looking for a Human Resources Manager to lead the Site’s Human Resources Department. You are accountable for managing the site’s Human Resources (HR) function by playing a leadership role and demonstrating influential leadership as well as by providing expertise in various HR fields such as performance management, recruitment, hiring and onboarding, absenteeism management, labour relations, organizational development, training needs assessment and benefits to assigned business units in order to achieve a world-class performance within a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support the Health & Safety programs to increase employee awareness.

  • Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed regarding mill and department priorities.

  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations.

  • Build and maintain a business relationship with stakeholders (managers, supervisory teams and employees), understand their needs and issues and play a key-role in the realization of their business objectives.

  • Coach managers and supervisory teams in the day-to-day challenges pertaining to employee management as well as the application of HR policies and programs and on HR processes.

  • Direct the performance management, talent development, and succession planning processes to meet current and long term needs for competence, and continuity across the workforce.

  • Provide site management with labor relations expertise and counsel aligned with business, production and workforce objectives. Partner with Corporate HR staff to align all projects.

  • Understand fully the collective agreements, communicate their essentials to ensure correct interpretation, and monitor operations to ensure consistent application.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable workforce legislation and regulations.

  • Provide expertise in workforce planning, job evaluation, control of absenteeism, and management of overtime.

  • Provide consistent interpretation and counsel for the collective agreements’ application in alignment with

  • business priorities and objectives.

  • Manage the grievance procedure, respond in first instances, lead grievance meetings, prepare for and participate in arbitration process. Investigate workplace complaints.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in preparation of negotiations.

  • Provide regular reviews of the workforce requirements to achieve operational goals and forecast job vacancies.

  • Apply and ensure effective implementation of HR policies and procedures in compliance with applicable legislations.

  • Keep up to date with HR trends and regulation changes – collect & analyze data to identify trends and target improvements. Act as Management Representation on various Joint- Committees.

 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial relations

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)/ Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) an asset.

  • 7 to 12 years experience in an industrial unionized environment

  • Business acumen, sound judgement, strong analytical skills and ability to multi-task

  • Leadership, interpersonal and communications skills

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

  • Bilingual: English and French (spoken and written)
