Plant Maintenance Technician
Our client has an immediate full-time permanent opportunity available for a Plant Maintenance Technician in Foam Lake, SK
Reports to Maintenance Manager and General Manager
The Plant Maintenance Technician will assist the maintenance team in working with production personnel to support plant systems for various processes and equipment in a highly automated facility. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and maintenance skills, with the ability to take on increasing levels of responsibility.
In this role you are responsible for equipment maintenance and repair, as well as overseeing plant utilities such as glycol boilers, compressed air, expellers, expanders, augers, grain dryer and site equipment. The ability to repair and trouble shoot process equipment to avoid downtime and identify quality defects is an asset.
Additionally, this individual will provide support for other shift operations including crush plant team members, facility support and project activities. Electrical work to include motor wiring, resetting of breakers, and minor repair of industrial electrical equipment.
You should posses an ability to be flexible with tasks and be able to prioritise to keep the plant running as well as the ability to work on your own.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Observe operation of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair/replacement of mechanical components and necessary adjustments.
Assist other maintenance team members in repairs and down time events.
Understand and trouble-shoot VFD drives, temperature controllers, and other PLC/computer-based systems.
Assist plant staff to implement projects and equipment upgrades for various types of automation and canola crushing process equipment.
Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
Manage and perform preventative maintenance on process and facility equipment.
Coordinate and oversee contractors when contractor expertise is required.
Update and track, equipment service inspections and checks.
Support schedule changes to resolve conflicts among maintenance and daily operation and activities.
Provide direction and leadership to peers to achieve goals through shift-to-shift hand off meetings.
Able to assist in development and implementation of repair plans and PM programs to have an effective maintenance program.
Qualifications:
Millwright / Industrial Mechanic preferred but open to ticketed welders and those with similar background.
Proactive self starter.
Demonstrated skills of working with others with proven decision-making capability.
Proven maintenance experience.
Ability to work with or without direct supervision and provide direction to others.
Ability to work at heights.
Class 5 drivers licence and a good abstract.
Strong math, CMMS, computer skills and some experience with automation systems.
Ability to work with hand tools and various shop equipment (welders, drills, metal cutting, etc.).
Good people skills and able to work through conflict to achieve desired results.
Ability to service machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
High regard for safety standards. Experience with OH&S and other safety programs.
Experience with Facility Utility systems such as boilers, furnaces, air compressors and Crush Plant Equipment.
Ability to operate and obtain a license for forklifts and scissor lifts.
Ability to read and understand schematics and equipment drawing details.
Ability to plan.
Physical requirements – must be able to stand at least 9 hours, walk, bend, and use both hands for repetitive grasping, and lifting.
Maintain a hazard-free, clean & safe work area.
Ability to work in all types of environments with appropriate PPE.
Able to support some daily overtime for breakdown occurrences and alternate plant on-calls.
Average of 40 – 50 hours per week.
