Our client has a full-time permanent opportunity available for Plant Operators – Evening Shift in Saskatoon, SK



POSITION SUMMARY

The Pea Protein Plant Operator is responsible for participating in the day-to-day operations of the plant, while maintaining efficient production in desired quality and quantity. The position works with the shift/team in achieving key performance indicators for safety, environment, quality, customer service and cost control.


Plant Operations & Maintenance:

  • Keep plant clean and organized through daily cleaning and upkeep

  • Report any equipment deficiencies and mechanical issues immediately to Shift Supervisor

  • Carry out regular maintenance, inspection, and cleaning, as directed

  • Carry out change over procedures


Regulation & Quality Control:

  • Ensure production is in accordance with regulatory requirements

  • Ensure work is completed within standards that meet safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service and cost controls

  • Always follow good manufacturing processes, meeting industry regulations and equipment protocols

  • Practice quality control protocol at all phases of production and shipping and receiving

  • Report all quality issues and opportunities for improving quality control


SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Prior experience working in food processing plant operations is considered an asset

  • Experience and/or understanding of the grain commodity industry is considered an asset


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be able to safely lift 23 kgs (50 pounds).

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, squat, and climb ladders and stairs several times a day.

  • Shiftwork is required, including day, evening, and overnight shifts.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions throughout the year.

  • Some overtime may be required, including during evenings and weekends.

  • Particulate contaminants: pea protein dust may contaminate the air with particles that can be inhaled; the use of a respirator is required.

  • CSA approved steel-toed boots are required.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
